DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT - CALABAR CLASS OF 1983 MEMBER

Many of us will remember Carlyle as the gifted and fearless footballer who wore the Green and Black with pride and distinction for Calabar, and who later went on to represent Excelsior at the highest level. On the field, he was tough, skillful, and a true lion.

Off the field, in his later years, Carlyle faced a long and difficult health battle. He was not in good health for many years.

But Brothers — THIS is where the strength of the Class of 1983 was shown. Through our organized care and wellness checks, several brothers stepped forward and showed what brotherhood truly means. Special thanks to Mark Bowen and others who visited him, checked on him, prayed for him, supported him, and ensured that he knew he was not forgotten. Your commitment and love in his final stage of life is a testament to who we are.

This is what it means to uphold our school motto — THE UTMOST FOR THE HIGHEST. Not just in words, but in deeds. Not just when it is easy, but when a brother is in dire need.

Carlyle knew we cared. And we were there until the end.

A match well played, Carlyle. The referee has blown your final whistle. Rest well, soldier.
