Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are a draft agreement for the Calabar Class of 1983 website. By visiting, registering, signing in, viewing a directory, submitting material, using the chat guide, browsing merchandise, or following a dues or fundraising link, you agree to use the site lawfully and responsibly. If you do not agree, do not use the feature.

This page is a working draft for qualified U.S. counsel review. It is general information, not legal advice, and may need changes for the association's actual structure and obligations.

The site is intended for alumni, class supporters, and visitors who can form a binding agreement under applicable law. Member directory access requires sign-in and committee approval. Registration or sign-in does not guarantee approval, continued access, or publication of a profile.

Keep credentials and account links under your control. Do not share an account, impersonate another person, or create an account for someone else without permission. Tell the committee if you believe access is being misused.

Provide information that is accurate enough for the purpose, keep it reasonably current, and submit only information you are allowed to share. The committee may ask for clarification, decline a submission, or correct or remove information that is misleading, unsafe, outdated, or outside the site's purpose.

You may read the site's public material, reconnect with classmates through approved features, submit a legitimate profile or business listing for review, share class news or photos you have permission to share, and contact the committee about the site or class activities. Use the site in a way that respects people, their privacy, and the school's community.

You may not use the site or its information to:

Member-directory information is shared for personal reconnection among approved members. Do not use it for commercial prospecting, lead lists, unsolicited marketing, political targeting, bulk outreach, surveillance, or public republication. Do not assume an entry confirms identity, availability, endorsement, or current contact details.

Report a mistaken or inappropriate listing through the contact page. The committee may limit directory access or remove information when needed to protect members or the community.

Business-directory listings are informational. Inclusion after approval does not guarantee quality, availability, licensing, safety, accuracy, financial performance, or endorsement by Calabar Class of 1983, Calabar High School, or any classmate. Listing owners are responsible for their own descriptions, offers, legal compliance, and customer relationships.

The committee may edit, pause, decline, or remove a listing for accuracy, safety, relevance, or community standards. A visitor should evaluate a business independently before relying on it or engaging it.

You retain ownership of the photo, story, business description, class news, or other material you submit. By submitting it, you give the association a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, store, reproduce, format, display, and share that material through the class website and related class communications, only for class or community purposes.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed for the submission and that it does not violate law or another person's rights. You may request future correction or removal through the contact page, although copies already distributed, downloaded, shared, or retained for records may not be recoverable.

Before uploading a photo or naming people in a story, obtain consent from people you can reasonably identify and permission from the photographer or other rights-holder. Do not submit private images or personal information that a person would reasonably expect to remain private.

Send a correction or removal request through /contact-us. The association may remove material from pages it controls, but cannot control copies that others have already downloaded, shared, or reposted.

The site design, emblem, original copy, layout, software, and other association-created material belong to the association or their respective rights-holders. Use them only for personal, noncommercial class purposes unless permission or applicable law allows more. You may link to a page or quote a reasonable excerpt with attribution, but do not copy a full directory, republish the site as your own, or use the branding to suggest sponsorship or approval.

Merchandise pages and the cart are shopping aids. Product descriptions, stock, prices, currency conversion, delivery timing, shipping availability, and final fulfillment may change. Items are not reserved until payment is confirmed by the committee. Review the displayed details and contact the committee if an item, amount, or delivery expectation needs clarification.

Dues, donations, and fundraising instructions are requests for contribution, not an automatic checkout or receipt. Amounts, methods, references, and confirmations are handled as displayed or confirmed by the committee. Include your name and the requested purpose or reference when the instructions ask for one.

External payment or fundraising services process transactions under their own terms and privacy notices. Use their support for account or payment issues, and do not send full card numbers through the committee contact form or website chat.

The site may link to payment, fundraising, school, social, or other third-party destinations. Article sharing may open WhatsApp or another service outside this website. Choosing a link or share action is your decision, and the destination controls its own account, content, privacy, security, and availability practices. A link or share option does not mean the association endorses the destination or every statement made there.

The association may change, pause, or discontinue a page, feature, directory, listing, chat guide, cart, or external link. The site may be unavailable or contain errors. Community content, member and business listings, photographs, stories, prices, and payment references may be incomplete, outdated, unverified, or supplied by someone other than the association. Use judgment and confirm important details with the committee or the relevant provider.

The committee may remove a submission, unpublish a listing, restrict directory access, suspend an account, or end a feature when it reasonably believes there has been a breach, misuse, safety concern, legal issue, or change in the site's needs. We may preserve records needed for security, disputes, or legal obligations. You may stop using the site at any time, but ending use does not undo rights or responsibilities that arose earlier.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its content and features are provided on an as-available basis, without a promise that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, current, secure, or suitable for every purpose. The association does not guarantee a directory entry, business result, product availability, payment outcome, fundraising result, or response from a third party.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, the association will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, lost-profit, or data-loss damages arising from use of the site. Qualified counsel should tailor this paragraph to the association's actual jurisdiction and nonwaivable obligations.

To the extent permitted by law, if your breach of these Terms, unlawful conduct, or submission causes a third-party claim, you agree to cooperate with the association and reimburse reasonable losses, costs, and expenses caused by that conduct. This is not intended to require indemnity where prohibited or to shift the association's own nonwaivable duties. Counsel should review and tailor this provision before publication.

We may update these Terms when the website, class activities, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows when this draft was last updated. If a change is material, the association should post the revised version in a visible place. Continued use after an effective revision may constitute acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms are intended to be read under applicable U.S. law, without choosing a particular state in this draft. Qualified counsel should identify the governing law, venue, dispute process, and any required consumer, nonprofit, or association language for the association's actual jurisdiction. Nothing here limits nonwaivable rights or remedies.
